[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 24.2 — Day 7 (A Pair of Scarecrows)

Cheng Liu immediately changed her mind. “You can pay it back if you want, yes, just pay me directly.”

“What?” Ji Chaozhou didn’t understand what she said.

Cheng Liu turned around and walked back inside. A minute later, she appeared in front of Ji Chaozhou. “I moved in in a hurry today. I didn’t bring many daily necessities.”

In fact, Cheng Liu didn’t bring any daily necessities. She didn’t even bring a quilt

After all, she originally didn’t have any intention of staying here tonight.

“Let’s go to the supermarket, shall we?” Cheng Liu grabbed Ji Chaozhou’s arm and pulled him out of the darkness and onto the road.

This scene was very similar to that day at the airport, when she also pulled him away.

The warm-toned street lights shone down on the two figures.

After walking for a while, Ji Chaozhou finally reacted and pulled out his arm from her grasp, but his steps only slowed down, and he still followed Cheng Liu.

… …

There was a large supermarket nearby; the two of them reached it after walking for about ten minutes.

They both needed to buy daily necessities, but they were not familiar with each other, so they each pushed a shopping cart.

The two of them walked to the living section together.

Ji Chaozhou had very high requirements for bath fragrances and all other things which carried a scent. Before he could even choose anything, Cheng Liu had already selected everything she needed.

Toothbrushes, cups, towels, slippers… everything came in pairs.

Ji Chaozhou even saw her put a pair of big, red, double happiness stickers she got from somewhere into the shopping cart.

Did she buy that villa as a wedding house then?

Sure enough, being neighbors was only a coincidence; they just happened to bump into each other again.

The thing was, Cheng Liu obviously wanted to get married, but she couldn’t recognize her own boyfriend. Her boyfriend was also dating other girls.

Ji Chaozhou really couldn’t understand what was going on between them, so he just looked away and lowered his head to focus on picking out what he needed.

… …

As she pushed the shopping cart around, Cheng Liu found a supermarket’s living section to be so interesting for the first time—her happiness seemed to be as if she had returned to her hometown after being away for so long!

Things in pairs seemed to be waving at her from every corner.

So as long as it was a pair, Cheng Liu would buy it!

“I want that pair,” Cheng Liu said to the supermarket salesperson standing nearby.

The salesperson looked at the two scarecrows stuck against some items, then turned and looked Cheng Liu up and down. “What do you want this for? These two are not for sale.”

Cheng Liu tried to offer a price, “Any amount is fine.”

The salesperson ruthlessly crushed her dreams, “I say, no amount of money will be able to buy it!”

Cheng Liu could only leave disappointed.

… …

Half an hour later, Ji Chaozhou finished selecting what he needed. When he turned around, he saw Cheng Liu pushing a shopping cart towards him.

“Done?” Cheng Liu asked him. “Then let’s go back.”

The two of them went to check out. At another aisle, the supermarket manager stood talking on the phone, getting angry.

“If you can’t come to fix it now, how will we sort the goods in the middle of the night?” The supermarket manager said angrily to the person on the other end of the phone, “I told you, the system is stuck. Restarting is useless.”

Cheng Liu listened for a while, then turned back to Ji Chaozhou and said, “I’ll go take a look. They seem to be using our company’s system.”

Ji Chaozhou finished paying for his items and turned to look at Cheng Liu from across the aisle. She seemed to be negotiating with the supermarket manager. After a while, the two turned around and walked back into the supermarket. .

Cheng Liu walked a few steps and then stopped. She turned to look at Ji Chaozhou, spoke to the supermarket manager again, and walked back towards him. “This may take a while. Will you wait for me outside, or should we go in together?”

Ji Chaozhou’s eyes fell on the unfamiliar supermarket manager standing next to her, and after a moment he said, “I’ll go with you.”

The two of them left their things at the front desk for storage, and they headed to the warehouse behind the supermarket where the goods were stored.

“Our supermarket just upgraded to a new system last month and spent a lot of money to buy these machines.” The supermarket manager shook his head. “The system is stuck and the machines are paralyzed. How can we find the time to hire so many people to sort manually?”

“I’ll go take a look first,” Cheng Liu said.

“Fortunately, I met you today,” the supermarket manager said gratefully. Although she hadn’t started repairing it yet, she took the initiative to talk to him and seemed to be familiar with this matter. He asked casually, “So you repair this for a living?”

“Me? No, I don’t do this,” Cheng Liu shook her head.

“Isn’t it your job to repair this?” The supermarket manager was suddenly a little hesitant. What if this person was unreliable and the machines were damaged…

Sensing the supermarket manager’s suspicious eyes, Cheng Liu smiled slightly, “I developed your system.”

The supermarket manager was shocked by this, “Huh?”

When they arrived at the warehouse, Cheng Liu walked directly to the work room. Ji Chaozhou did not go in and stood outside.

He couldn’t hear what Cheng Liu was saying, but he could see all her movements.

Different from her usual smiling appearance, as soon as Cheng Liu entered the room, all the emotions on her face disappeared, and her hands moved very quickly on the keyboard.

Even though she was just sitting there, it felt like she had everything under control.

The supermarket manager standing next to her was suspicious at first, but later looked at Cheng Liu with bright eyes, his admiration obvious.

After only twenty minutes, she seemed to have dealt with the problem. She turned and said a few words to the supermarket manager, and the two of them walked out.

They were already halfway out when Cheng Liu suddenly said to Ji Chaozhou, “The manager and I are going to get something.”

They had already reached the supermarket by then and there were a lot of people. Ji Chaozhou nodded and said, “I’ll wait for you outside.”

After a while, Cheng Liu came out of the supermarket.

“You…” Ji Chaozhou looked at the pair of scarecrows she was holding in her arms, her usually indifferent eyes glowing with something strange. “What is this?”

Cheng Liu smiled a little proudly, “The supermarket manager gave it to me.”

These two scarecrows were decorations at the supermarket. Earlier the salesperson refused to sell them, but then the supermarket manager gave them to her directly!

In fact, in the work room just now, the supermarket manager wanted to give her a supermarket card, but Cheng Liu refused, saying that she only wanted the pair of scarecrows.

Although the supermarket manager was surprised, and even puzzled, he still agreed to give them to her.

Cheng Liu hugged a scarecrow and forced another one to Ji Chaozhou. “This is for you.”

Ji Chaozhou: “…”

He really couldn’t follow how her mind worked.
