[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 23.1 — Day 7 (Rounding Up, They’re Family!)

Ji Chaozhou returned to the Ji’s house

He thought he had it under control and was doing quite well. From the moment he entered the front doors until the end of the dinner, he was able to suppress things and didn’t allow himself any unnecessary mood swings. He was even able to say a few words to Ji Mushan.

However, as soon as he went to his room and closed the door, he felt shaky.

Ji Chaozhou lowered his head slightly; his face was pale and cold. He placed his hands on the wall, fingers gripping so tight it felt like his bones were about to break.

But after holding on for several minutes, he rushed into the bathroom and vomited everything he had just eaten.

… …

Ji Chaozhou stood in front of the sink and rinsed his mouth. He washed his hands in the biting cold water. He watched the water from the faucet gradually turn red as blood.

The blood kept pouring out of the washstand, staining the white floor tiles with a coating of deep red. Everything he could see was covered in the red of blood.

Ji Chaozhou could even smell the fishy, metallic smell.

He fell to his knees, raised his head, and tried to escape, but the thick blood on the floor began to spread up the wall, gradually covering the entire ceiling.

Ji Chaozhou knew that these were only hallucinations, but he was fully absorbed in them and couldn’t break free.

Inside the bathroom, the young man was kneeling on the ground without any strength, his figure slender and helpless. His adam’s apple became more prominent as he tilted his head upward. The warm yellow light on the top of the bath gave him a shallow and faint halo, making him look delicate and lonely—the most fragile jade in the world.

Ji Chaozhou raised his hands to cover his eyes, but the desolation before him was too strong; it was near impossible to get rid of it. It was as if he was about to fall into an endless abyss, unable to escape or evade.

“Buzz—”

The sudden sound of his cell phone vibrating broke the silence in the room, awakening the young man who was about to suffocate and drown in nothingness.

Ji Chaozhou pulled out his cell phone and wanted to reject the call, but his fingertips were trembling and the phone slipped through them, falling to the ground, coincidentally swiping the green button at the same time.

A familiar voice came from the other end of the phone: “I have disturbed you these past few days. Those expenses are my apology to you, and you don’t have to pay them back.”

Ji Chaozhou couldn’t hear what she was saying. For a while, he didn’t even realize that he had accepted the call.

… …

After Cheng Liu returned home, she thought for a long time but still couldn’t figure out how to reply to Ji Chaozhou’s message. In the end, she just called him directly to tell him that he didn’t have to pay it back, trying to gain some favor from him first.

But after talking for a while, she realized that there had been no response from the other end of the line, only some vague and messy breathing.

Cheng Liu stood up immediately and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you still sick?”

She never heard his voice.

“You… Chaozhou, Ji Chaozhou?” Cheng Liu called his name several times, over and over, while holding the phone to her ear.

… …

Someone was calling him.

That voice was always there, incessant, and somehow getting clearer.

The redness in Ji Chaozhou’s world began to fade away like receding tide. He slowly came back to his senses and looked at the phone on the ground. The sound seemed to be coming from it, demanding his attention.

He picked up the phone and instinctively put it to his ear.

“Ji Chaozhou!” Cheng Liu was still calling his name.

“… Hmm.” Ji Chaozhou responded in a low voice. He was still in a daze.

Cheng Liu on the other end of the phone finally heard his response and breathed a sigh of relief. It was okay if he was conscious.

“Is there anyone else with you?” Cheng Liu asked him, “If you feel uncomfortable, go to the hospital now.”

Ji Chaozhou listened quietly to Cheng Liu’s voice. At this time, her tone of voice was very firm and would not allow arguments.

He didn’t like anyone restraining him, but her voice right now was just too timely…  just enough to drive away the cloying sea of blood.

Ji Chaozhou lowered his long eyelashes and looked at his other hand. There was faint traces of blood on the fingertips.

This was not an illusion—it’s from when his fingers dug too fiercely when he was supporting himself against the wall.

All signs were pointing to him returning to reality.

“I’m not sick.” Ji Chaozhou stood up slowly. He looked at the person in the mirror—his face was pale, and his forehead was wet with cold sweat.

Embarrassing and unsightly.

… …

Cheng Liu listened to the gradually steadying breaths on the other end of the phone, and her calm and serious mood faded, leaving only a guilty conscience.

Had she been a little too fierce earlier?

Cheng Liu’s heart felt cold. Could she still have the joy of love if she was like this to him?

Sure enough, the very next moment, he said goodbye and hung up the phone.

Cheng Liu: “…”

Young President Cheng didn’t sleep well that night.

She woke up once during the night and couldn’t help but get up. She studied and sorted her collection of love stories for an hour before she began feeling a little more settled.

She, Cheng Liu, never fought a battle unprepared.

When the opportunity comes, she would be able to use love words skillfully! She will surely, most definitely impress her future boyfriend!

… …

The next day, Cheng Liu went to the company early in the morning.

Zhou Shengyan of Yayue came over to sign the contract. After, Cheng Liu took Zhou Shengyan on a tour of Shenyin Technology headquarters.

“Being able to cooperate with Shenyin Technology is definitely the best choice we have ever made in Yayue,” Zhou Shengyan said sincerely, sighing in her heart.

No wonder Shenyin Technology developed so rapidly in just a few years. The company’s technology and concepts were already so far ahead of its time.

Cheng Liu has heard too many compliments by now and was unmoved. She said with a calm expression, “As long as CEO Zhou is satisfied.”

Zhou Shengyan had the ability to take charge of a large company; it stood to reason she was a very observant person. She quickly changed the topic, “President Cheng, do you want to go to the furniture store now?”

Cheng Liu readily agreed. She turned to He Bai and said, “You stay in the company, I’ll just pick out a few pieces of furniture.”

He Bai nodded and said ‘yes’.

Ever since he learned that Cheng Liu and Wang Hongyang had broken up last night, the stone that had been weighing on He Bai’s heart finally disappeared and he could finally relax.
