[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 22.1 — Day 6 (Duplex Villas)

It was a message from Ji Chaozhou.

Cheng Liu stared at the phone screen in a daze.

Ji Chaozhou and Wang Hongyang stood together this morning, and normal people could tell them apart. Although their profiles were indeed somewhat similar, they were completely different in every other way.

However, Cheng Liu regarded Ji Chaozhou as her boyfriend for five whole days without noticing anything was wrong.

She suddenly remembered that there was a term in psychology called ‘self-deception’.

For some reason, the brain would pretend something was true and thoroughly believe it through constant self-suggestions and adjustments.

Cheng Liu tried to reflect and analyze her true, inner motives.

A minute later, she raised her hands to cover her face: “…”

For no discernable reason she could say, deep down inside, she felt that her boyfriend should be Ji Chaozhou.

Cheng Liu silently condemned her morality: it would seem she might be a bit of a scumbag!

“Hello? Hello!” Director Li had been babbling on the phone for a long time, only to realize that Cheng Liu was silent on the other end, so he couldn’t help but raise his voice, “Young President Cheng?”

Cheng Liu was suffering from a severe attack of conscience, so when she heard Director Li’s voice, she only wanted to hang up the call. She put the phone back to her ear.

Director Li was still chatting, “By the way, thinking of it, Young President Cheng and President Ji’s son are somewhat destined. Like your boyfriend, his home also had a fire.” Director Li tried his best to tell the unfinished gossip from this morning, and now he felt much more comfortable.

Cheng Liu swallowed the words of goodbye she planned to say and listened silently to Director Li.

“President Ji contacted me just now and wanted to buy a city villa from me. I guess he must be buying it for his son.” Director Li sighed, “There are only a few city villas available, and I bought it when it first went on the market years ago. It took a lot of effort to buy those two duplex villas.”

Cheng Liu had heard Director Li show off those two duplex villas before. They were in a good location, a quiet place in the center of a bustling scene. They had one basement floor and two floors above ground, with good lighting on three sides. There was a courtyard garage in the front and a swimming pool in the back. These were rare resources for a residence in the city.

Different from single-family villas, duplex villas usually consisted of two households as adjacent neighbors, so Director Li bought both villas directly in order to avoid the inconvenience of dealing with such close neighbors.

However, he has never lived in it since he bought it. He learned that his wife, Yang Fanyu, preferred to live in high-rise buildings with large floor areas.

Young President Cheng got up and walked anxiously around her living room twice, feeling morally tormented but unable to move on.

“My wife said that since the villa is left empty anyway, we might as well sell it to President Ji.” Standing in the lobby of Dongchu Hotel, Director Li glanced at Yang Fanyu beside him. He quietly walked a little to the side and said to Cheng Liu on the other end of the phone, “Actually, my wife likes Ji Chaozhou; she met him once before, and she hasn’t forgotten him since.”

“It’s really a waste to leave the villas empty,” Cheng Liuyi said abruptly, agreeing with Yang Fanyu’s statement. She asked in a tentative voice, “Will Director Li live in the other villa in the future?”

“Me?” Li Dong immediately shook his head and showed off, “Why would I live there? Home is where my wife lives.”

Cheng Liu clenched her fists and coughed, and finally decided to give up all resistance and follow her heart. She said nonchalantly, “Director Li, the other villa, can you sell it to me?”

“You want to buy it too?” Li Dong was surprised.

Cheng Liu’s eyes skittered around her living room, “I’ve really been wanting to live in a courtyard recently. And just now, Director Li mentioned that you want to sell yours. You might as well sell the other one to me.”

Director Li hesitated for a while. “It’s not impossible.” Anyway, he did plan to sell both. Instead of giving President Ji the full set, he could sell the one next door to Cheng Liu and satisfy both.

“Then I’ll ask you to transfer the ownership right now,” Cheng Liu said without hesitation.

Things developed so fast that Director Li was at a loss. “So urgent?”

“… I’m usually too busy, and I happen to be free today,” Cheng Liu said without blinking. “And today is the 6th. I’ve always liked this number.”

“Okay, then you come over to Dongchu Hotel,” Li Dong replied straightforwardly. “I’ll go and get the certificate now. The villa No. 6 will be given to you, and the villa No. 5 will be given to President Ji.”

As soon as Director Li hung up the phone, Yang Fanyu came over and asked him, “What certificate?”

“Wife,” Director Li met Yang Fanyu halfway and explained, “today, by coincidence, she also wants to buy the villa I own.”

“She wants to buy it too?” Yang Fanyu frowned. “Are you sure Young President Cheng and President Ji don’t have any conflict with each other? She grabbed the jade ‘lily-of-the-valley and deer’ diorama two days ago, and today she wants to buy the villa he asked for.”

“Have conflict? No, no, they are not familiar with each other at all!” Li Dong said firmly, “They have nothing to do with each other.”

Yang Fanyu really didn’t understand their industry, and so, seeing her husband’s adamant denial, she said no more about the matter.

… …

Cheng Liu spent the entire afternoon submitting all the required information for the transfer of ownership and then transferred the money to Director Li on the spot.

“Both villas are cleaned regularly, so you can just go and live there directly.” Director Li turned to Cheng Liu and warned “But there is no furniture inside, you can just add it yourself.”

“… Hmm,” Cheng Liu replied absentmindedly; she was still thinking about how to get back with Ji Chaozhou.

As soon as he pays her back the money, he would have nothing to do with her at all.

Then perhaps it would be best if she did not reply and pretend not to have seen his text—this way, he would always owe her.

In just one day, Young President Cheng’s morals have seriously declined, and there seemed to be a continued downward trend.

Director Li saw his wife at the door of the Housing Management Bureau—she should have come to pick him up. “Young President Cheng, I’m going back first. Next time, remember to bring your boyfriend out and we will have a meal together,” saying that, he left immediately.

Cheng Liu, whose fake boyfriend flew away and who just broke up with her real boyfriend: “…”

T/N: This hasn’t been dropped! But my raws had chapters missing and I had to find a new source first 😭 Sorry for the late posting.

Our morally depraved Young President Cheng would probably have more luck if she followed Yang Fanyu’s advice—she seems to be the only one in this story with working brain cells when it comes to relationships. Alas, Cheng Liu is stuck with Director Li instead 😂
