[WrongThenWrong] Chapter 1.2 — Day 1 (nine hundred ninety nine)

Owner and CEO of a technology startup company, Cheng Liu’s net worth has skyrocketed in recent years. After dating for half a year, the sum of money spent on him did not even exceed 10,000 yuan!

Except for her, who among the women who fell in love with him in the past have not been generous?

But… Cheng Liu was different from other women, she was the most promising person he has come into contact with so far, and Shenyin Technology seems to be still expanding, so it would be a pity to give up.

The man on the sofa calmed down a bit, picked up his phone again. The unread messages on his WeChat have accumulated, sandwiching Cheng Liu’s last message, making it inconspicuous. He clicked on Cheng Liu’s picture, gave it a glance but didn’t pay it much attention. Instead, he switched to another unread message—it’s from a woman he just met—and began chatting.

He had to take care of himself, better get something from other women first.

At noon on April 1st, Cheng Liu hurriedly packed her luggage and rushed from the hotel to the airport, boarding a flight back to S city.

Cheng Liu took out the blindfold from her backpack, put it on, and tried to nap.

She didn’t go to sleep until three o’clock that morning, then woke up early to visit a partner’s R&D laboratory, and she desperately needed to catch up on sleep.

“I’ll be at S City Airport in two hours.”

The plane hasn’t taken off yet, and Cheng Liu heard the person in the seat next to her talking. It was a young woman’s voice.

… she forgot to take out the earplugs, but the backpack was already in the overhead compartment.

Cheng Liu struggled inwardly for a moment, her mind already half-grasping for sleep, and in the end she didn’t move and didn’t bother to ask the stewardess for it.

But the voice from the next seat kept coming.

“You didn’t come to my birthday party…

“I’m not asking for a gift.”

“I’ll head home straight away. Aunt Yun has always liked your lily-of-the-valley.”

“Can you drop by the airport? Let’s go there together.”

Cheng Liu kept her eyes closed and couldn’t help but hear the whole half-sided conversation. Fortunately, it didn’t last long and the other party didn’t make any further noises.

Once the plane took off smoothly, Cheng Liu touched the button next to her, reclined the seat and fell asleep completely.

She was woken up by the flight attendant when the plane was about to land.

Cheng Liu took off her blindfold in a daze, straightened her seat, rubbed her face, and struggled to wake up.

Ten minutes later, the plane landed at S City Airport.

When getting off the plane, Cheng Liu happened to see the young woman who had been seated next to her. She was wearing sunglasses and a mask, her long, wavy hair was loose behind her, and she was wearing a long black dress with thin straps. Just looking at her figure, one could sense her radiance.

The young woman suddenly took off her sunglasses and mask, and gently fluffed her long hair. The people around suddenly became agitated, talking in low voices, and a name surfaced from the noise from time to time.

Probably a star. Cheng Liu put on her backpack and towed the small luggage in one hand, the idea quickly passing through her mind.

However, Cheng Liu was not interested in celebrities, so she simply followed the person in front and strode out of the plane.

Cheng Liu’s suitcase was not big. Since she took it onboard the plane as a hand carry, she didn’t have to wait for it to be unloaded from the plane’s cargo hold. The female celebrity, on the other hand, went to pick up her luggage, so she slowly fell behind Cheng Liu.

But before Cheng Liu could turn the corner, the phone in her pocket vibrated. It was a call from the company—her chief assistant.

Cheng Liu held the suitcase in one hand, and slowed down. “What’s the matter?”

“The company has a quarterly summary meeting in the afternoon—do you want to come?”, the chief assistant on the other end of the phone asked. “But it could take a bit long, and you might not be able to make it in time for your dinner date.”

Date?

Oh, yeah. Yesterday she had her assistant book a private room in a restaurant in advance. She had planned to take her boyfriend out to dinner tonight, just to get in touch.

Cheng Liu immediately said, “The appointment is postponed…”

At this time, she had already walked to the exit, and when she raised her eyes, she suddenly saw her boyfriend, standing tall amidst the crowd.

Even though there were so many people at the airport exit, Cheng Liu still saw him at a glance.

The other person’s shoulders were straight; the color of his hair and skin formed the ultimate black and white contrast; his eyebrows were indifferent and the look in his eyes distant; his nose was straight; and his lips were red, inked like a painting, a pale color mixed with heavier shades.

Amidst the surging crowd, he was shrouded in a vague and indistinct sense of alienation.

Cheng Liu’s heart—which had always been devoted to work—suddenly started beating fast. The same exact feeling as when she first saw him at the banquet half a year ago.

Cheng Liu thought to herself, ‘After a few months of absence, he has become even more beautiful. Standing in the crowd, he can really shine.’

Cheng Liu immediately reflected on why she hadn’t gotten in touch with her boyfriend more. As a matter of fact… she still has some time to squeeze now.

At this point, the chief assistant on the other end of the phone naturally answered, “Since the date is postponed, I will add your name to the meeting.”

Cheng Liu was still looking at her handsome boyfriend ahead, and with great difficulty divided her attention so she could respond to her chief assistant still talking on the phone. “No.”

The chief assistant was so surprised that he didn’t react for a while. “What?

“It’s not possible to postpone the appointment,” Cheng Liu quickly reversed her original intention. “You guys do it by yourselves, and then put the summary report on my desk.”

Before the chief assistant could speak, Cheng Liu already hung up the phone.

She doesn’t understand.

How could she have been annoyed by such a beautiful boyfriend?

It must be that the complicated work in the past few months has confused her brain, but it shouldn’t be too late to rebuild the relationship.

So, Cheng Liu dragged her suitcase, and with a mixed feeling of guilt and covetousness, strode towards her boyfriend.

T/N: Ahh what a tangled web we weave… when we don’t wear the right contact lens prescription lmao.
